Adolescent Process Group

Group Description:

A safe place where teens have the opportunity for real, honest exchanges and closeness with others their age. Teens will improve social skills, learn new ways to cope, and strengthen relationships with peers as well as gain a sense they are not alone. This group will focus on a range of topics and is not curriculum-based. Freedom of discussion is encouraged based on teens life events.

Mondays from 6:30-7:30 PM in Paramus.

Bariatric Group Therapy Sessions

Group Description:

No matter where you are in your weight loss journey, exploring the psychological factors involved is a very important part of this life-changing process. Embarking on a physical change through weight loss surgery can be exciting but it can also uncover emotional concerns from the past and present. Join me in exploring the psychological factors involved in this incredible journey!

Topics include:

Mentally preparing for pre/post-WLS
Lifestyle changes
Childhood food issues
Emotional eating & negative triggers
Anxiety & depression pre/post-WLS
Self-esteem & identity after weight loss
Body dysmorphia
Family & friends-supporters & detractors
Defense mechanisms
Fears & obsession after WLS

Group Description:

Do you try to lose weight but think psychological reasons are making it more difficult for you to be successful? Join me in evaluating psychological factors and overeating behaviors.

Anxiety, depression & weight gain
Self-esteem & weight issues

Therapeutic Book Club ▾ 

Group Description:

This group will be a support group that focuses on either a self-help book or inspirational/mental health-based memoir. Group members will be expected to complete a certain portion of the chosen book by each meeting. We will then discuss our thoughts on the section and how it relates or does not relate with our own thoughts, feelings and/or situations. We will use the chosen book’s content to guide meaningful and therapeutic conversation

LGBTQ+ Teen Support Group ▾ 

Thursdays 6:00PM-7:00PM, Beginning Sept 16

Runs for 12 weeks 

Facilitated by Christina Romeo, LCSW

This unique and special group of gay men encourages positive change in all areas of your life, including issues related to sex and dating, career and finances, friendships, family, anxiety, depression, sexuality, and self-esteem. Gay Men’s Therapy Group is the perfect place to learn how you come across to others as well as to examine the various roles in life you traditionally assume. How do you respond to challenges?  How do you deal with conflict? What are your positive and negative behavioral patterns?  Group members can also give supportive feedback and help you craft your own solutions.  The group experience will allow you to recognize and build upon your strengths and to develop new directions for growth.
