Nicole Appello is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Mental Health Screener. Nicole earned her Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers University in the Advanced Clinical Practice specialization with a concentration in children & adolescents, young adults, and families. Nicole’s clinical areas of interest include working with young adults to better understand and manage stress, develop a sense of purpose, and build resilience. Her other primary focus is in helping children and their families find ways to address issues arising from anxiety, depression, impulse-control disorders, anger management, and low self-esteem, as well as mood and academic-based disorders. She is well-versed in evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as well as creative behavioral interventions which incorporate art and play.
Nicole uses a combination of techniques to help caregivers foster communication between each other and their children. She is able to interpret the unique needs of her clients’ individual circumstances and apply a strengths-based perspective to help them find a path to healing and balance. Nicole is warm, friendly, non-judgmental and has an innate aptitude for helping her clients achieve their authentic selves. Outside of the therapy room she enjoys traveling, hiking/camping, and cooking (especially things that are spicy!).
